Scripture confirms that there is a spiritual condition called “babe”.
“Brethren, I could not speak to you as spiritual people but as unto carnal, as babes in Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:1KJV
It is used to describe someone who is new to the faith and truth of GOD. 1 Peter 2:2 Hebrews 5:12 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 Isaiah 28:9 Ephesians 4:11-15 1 Corinthians 14:20
How long it takes to grow out of being a babe to a mature Christian is dependent on each person as our experiences in life differ and the time we devote to prayer, study and meditation varies. Remember this, the more you give yourself to GOD the more HE gives to you. As the title says this article is for babes in Christ. It is in no way to be taken in some negative light but rather as a fellow elect of GOD in GODLY love sharing things about your current infancy and your need to fellowship with others who are more mature as an aid in your own growth towards maturity. We mature are not Apostles, evangelists or pastors but we are new covenant prophets and prophetesses who have received the divine guidance and teachings from GOD through Christ just as you will. We can’t teach you, GOD will do that, but we can share with you what GOD has taught us.
33 years ago I and two others were babes in Christ had just escaped the deception of legalism, a belief that we had to keep the Ten Commandments and certain parts of the law of Moses. This form of deception is very powerful because it was based upon the scriptures that were used incorrectly by the false church leadership who had carnal minds. No one in this false church had the Holy Spirit. GOD ALMIGHTY began to work with the three of us to bring us out of this deception in 1993. We were taught by GOD the truth about the Ten Commandments and law of Moses, about the one true GOD, about the man Jesus Christ, about faith, grace, the church, the truth of the gospel, the total submission of ourselves to GOD, about life and death and resurrection , about the kingdom to come and about certain prophetic events. We were given all this understanding by the spirit of the FATHER through Jesus Christ our mediator and savior. We began our journey as babes in Christ to gradually be taught by GOD all these things I listed and some I did not. At that time unknown to us we had what I call excess baggage from the world that we needed to get rid of and this did happen over time. We had some beliefs that were not true but in time GOD corrected us. This experience we went through all babes in Christ will go through. The three of us had no other mature Christians that could help our weaknesses, the strong bearing the weak was not present for us but this did not hinder our growth because GOD and Christ were with us and guided us into the truth. As we grew in the spirit, in grace and knowledge, we learned that there were others scattered to the four winds who had a similar experience of conversation but we did not know any of them personally. After about 30 years one of our group ventured out into the world seeking others like us and joined a Christian forum. He posted many articles on that forum knowing full well that the chance of being positively received was very slim. As it turned out there were two individuals that did respond but had reservations and this because they were both possessing excess baggage from their affiliation with Satans churches. These to different degrees challenged the content of the articles our brother posted on the forum asking for proof from the scriptures which our brother gave. It must be stressed here that no one can teach anyone the truth of GOD, GOD alone teaches through Jesus Christ. GOD, on several occasions, gave the understanding to the babes even when one or the other of them was vehemently opposed the truth. Our brothers progress on this form was being monitored by the other two elect saints and we became greatly encouraged to see these two individuals being enlightened by GODS spirit to see the same things that GOD taught us many years ago. Now remember this happened about 3 years ago and since that time these 2 new babes in Christ have come to know the truth about certain things but they yet have some excess baggage that needs discarding. Currently there are 6 of us now that fellowship together and in the process of this fellowship the three mature saints have come to see the excess baggage in these two new babes in Christ. It seems that a repeat of the events that happened on that false Christian forum have continued on into this new fellowship as we three can plainly see this excess baggage they are carrying while as yet they cannot. We 4 pray for them and have confidence that GOD who has brought them this far will place them in HIS plan where they belong. Remember I said that no one can teach anyone the truth of GOD, that GOD is our teacher through Jesus Christ, and all we can do is continue praying for them and providing them with what we have learned that they have yet to learn. Back in the days when we were babes in Christ we would have given our right arms so to speak for a mature Christian to have served us in the way that we have served these babes. We confess that at times it has been a little frustrating but we realize that each babe needs to work out their own salvation in fear and trembling. This is not some kind of contest to see who is the most knowledgeable. This is not the time and place for carnal egos to come into play. This is a SPIRITUAL THING that only GOD can work out. Everything we have comes from GOD so where is the boasting, where is the pride ? We speak the truth in love and that is all that we can do. Everything else is GODS doing.
To all the babes in Christ; realize that you are babe, a new convert, and that you have much growing ahead of you and come to see that there are those who GOD has called and chosen long before you and to hear them out. Take what they say to GOD in prayer asking for confirmation one way or the other. Realize that these mature saints have been where you are now and that they love you and desire the best for you. We are not your enemy, we are the blessing to you that we did not have when we were babes.
I will add that since our conversions in 1993 we have come into contact with several others all of whom have fallen away for various reasons. We trust GODS judgement in this as only HE knows the best time to call and choose people. Only recently we have had to accept this with certain ones who have left. We have learned a valuable lesson from these types of experiences; that we should not credit people beyond what GOD has done with them and time is required for new acquaintances to prove themselves even as a babe before we call them brother or sister.
