REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC

 In a representative republic, the delegate model where elected officials are obligated to vote the will of the majority of the people, which I believe was the intent of the founding fathers, because it is truly government of, by and for the people, and is not practiced by most elected government officials. Today congressional members vote their own conscience without regard to those who elected them in a system called the trustee model.  When reading the constitution the main theme is always power of the people over that of the government and many protections are included in the constitution to insure that the government does not gain power over the people.  Therefore, the delegate model described above must be the correct model.

Do you realize how many laws were passed by Congress that went directly against the will of the majority of Americans ?  The Institute for Social and Policy Studies has found that 80% of past laws were supported by the majority of Americans but overall congress aligns with public opinion only 55% of the time in the last 20 years. 

There have been very unpopular laws that have been passed by Congress having little support from the majority of Americans.  Examples are; Obama Care, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the TARP bank bail out, the Revenue Act of 1913, Prohibition Act to outlaw alcohol and Abortion on demand at any time for any reason are just a few. 

How can any government that claims rule by those being governed not have elected presidents, Senators or congressmen not obey the will of the majority of Americans ?  The current form of the U.S. government is contrary to the principles of a true representative republic.  

Today there is legislation before congress called the SAVE ACT that 80% of the majority of Americans want passed, but congress has refused to pass it. 

79% of voters do not want biological males in women’s sports but legislation in congress is being held up for its passing. 

The Protect Children’s Innocence Act is still not law because of resistance to it in the Senate. Polls are mixed on this issue but a clear majority is against child transgender surgery. If the U.S. was a true republic it would be law.

Things that have been common sense for many generations are now becoming increasingly politicized by small minority groups who seem to rule the nation over the majority opposition. 

From what I have observed there are too many voters that have no idea about the issues facing the country and vote according to what talking head they watch on TV.  In all of this massive mess voting is about as good as whistling Dixie.  Your vote doesn’t matter when your elected officials ignore you and do what they want. This is why your nation is going to fall.
