All humans die because we are mortal. There is the lie Satan told Eve, “thou shalt not surely die” , that is indeed a lie. No one’s spirit goes to heaven conscious. The dead know nothing. Ecclesiastes 9:5 Psalm 146:4 Isaiah 38:18,19 Psalm 115:17 Isaiah 26:14 John 3:13 Jesus Christ is the only human being that entered heaven very much alive and conscious and this happened after he was raised from the dead when he ascended .
All human spirits do go back to GOD but are totally inoperative, cannot function without a body. These spirits await a resurrection of the dead of which are two, first and second. The first is the true church, the second is everybody else that GOD never called and chose in this age.
Given this information it cannot be the first death Jesus saves people from. It is the second death he saves us from.
1 John 5:17 “and there is sin that does not lead to death.”
How can this be when scripture plainly says,
Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death.”
On the surface this seems to be a direct contradiction to the carnal mind or perhaps to a babe in Christ.
Grace is the program instituted by GOD that forgives all sin except the unpardonable sin. Therefore, for GODS elect these sins do not lead to death because GOD forgives them. Then you ask, why then do we still die ? Our first death is an experience all humans are appointed to because we are not immortal.
Hebrews 9:27 “it has been appointed unto all men once to die”
Therefore it cannot be the first death that Jesus saves us from. It is the second death, everlasting death, that Jesus saves us from. Only the church, GODS elect saints, are saved from everlasting death. The carnal world is yet under this everlasting death sentence. However, GOD, in HIS mercy through Jesus Christ, has provided a second resurrection for carnal people in which all carnal people are raised from the dead and given GODS Holy Spirit and taught the truth of GOD. As long as these people do not commit the unpardonable sin they will live but if they do they die forever by the lake of fire called the second death.
The law never provided a rescue from the first or second death, only Christ in the new covenant does that. The law serves to condemn all humanity to that second death and it is only through Christ that anyone can receive a reprieve. Romans 3:19. Acts 4:11-12
True Christians can escape the condemnation of the law when they are in Christ. Romans 8:1 The Holy Spirit of the FATHER gives us GODS love, Romans 5:5 , that will fulfill what the law demanded from us that we could not do. Romans 8:3 GODS love fulfills the intent of the law. Romans 13:10 Jesus gave us two commandments of love GOD and neighbor that are greater than the Ten Commandments. Mark 12:29,30,31 We become GODS workmanship, GOD works in us to obey HIS will. Philippians 2:13
You do no more work in the law because GOD works in you. You take a spiritual sabbath for the rest of your life, resting from your struggle to keep laws you could never keep and condemn you to everlasting death. Matthew 11:28 Acts 15:10
The choice of law or grace is what the two trees in Eden symbolized, one everlasting life the other everlasting death. GOD gave Adam what Adam chose, everlasting death, this is why Adam did not immediately drop dead after eating the forbidden fruit but would eventually die the first death appointed to all men. However in GODS mind HE already provided a way to escape this death sentence. Jesus, the lamb slain from the foundation of the world, the second Adam, obeyed his GOD, harkened to the voice of his GOD and has become the tree of life for us as we must eat his flesh and drink his blood else we have no life in us. John 6:3 Jesus is married to his Eve, the church, his bride. The church is pregnant with the children of GOD that will be born into spirit existence at the return of Jesus. Just as Jacob claimed Joseph’s two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, as his own sons , GOD claims us as HIS own sons. Genesis 48:5 1 John 3:1
There was the greatest price ever paid by anyone to make all these things happen, GOD sacrificed HIS only son as Abrahams sacrifice of Isaac was a type. Genesis 22:12 There are parallels like this throughout the Old Testament writings.
The only hope humanity has of escaping the everlasting death penalty of the old covenant laws is what GOD did through Jesus Christ.
The word sleep is used in the Bible as a metaphor for death because we are unconscious while we sleep and unaware of things happening in the conscious world. Sleep is used about 50 times in the Old Testament to describe death and about 20 times in the New Testament. Jesus, when he died fell asleep just as all humans do.
1 Corinthians 15:20 “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
Other scriptures, when properly understood, confirm that Jesus Christ died the exact same death all humans do. Romans 6:9 Colossians 1:18 Acts 26:23 John 11:25 Acts 2:24 Hebrews 2:14-15 Read these scriptures again with the truth of what death is rather than all the lies you have been taught.
John 11:25. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
This verse, when correctly understood, proves there is no consciousness after death. We must be resurrected from the dead to have life. Why have a resurrection if you are alive in heaven after death, what would be the point ? Consciousness is regained by a resurrection, a return to life.
All I can do is tell you the truth. I cannot give you the understanding of the truth because only GOD does that and HE also determines which resurrection a person will receive. Jesus does not save us from life somewhere else in a heaven or hell but from death, the total and complete opposite of what life is.
This is truly amazing. Your post trashes just about everything I was taught in church. Everyone is going to have a chance just not at the same time. I don’t think I am one of those elect you wrote about but I still have the same hope they have only in the second resurrection.
