The word universal does not appear in scripture but the word “all” does and is seen by some to mean the same as universal.

God to Moses;

KJV Exodus 32:31-33
 31.  And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
 32.  Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
 33.  And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

“Thy book which thou hast written” refers to the Lambs book of life in which the names of all of those who will receive salvation are written.

KJV Revelation 3:5
 5.  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

To sin directly against God one must have His Holy Spirit for this makes a person a free moral agent and responsible for the spiritual knowledge God gives to him.  The sins of the unconverted God winks at as they are done in ignorance but once converted they will be held accountable.

KJV Acts 17:29-30
 29.  Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
 30.  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Salvation has conditions that must be met in order to receive it; if this is true, then by definition it cannot be universal; for to be universal salvation there is no condition, for it is without limit or exception.

Repentance is a condition, obeying the gospel is a condition, loving God and neighbor is a condition, overcoming sin is a condition, faith in God and Jesus is a condition.  None of these conditions can be met without having the Holy Spirit.   Having the spirit but refusing to meet the conditions violates the new covenant and results in everlasting death.  God says that He can blot out a name from the book of life and if this is true then the name blotted out will not have life.

We know that the only way to receive salvation is by Jesus Christ so if one with spiritual knowledge, with the Holy Spirit, willingly rejects Christ this is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit of God.  Carefully read the following scripture;

KJV Hebrews 6:4-6
 4.  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
 5.  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
 6.  If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

KJV Hebrews 10:26-29
 26.  For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
 27.  But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
 28.  He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
 29.  Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

If we sin “willfully” while having the Holy Spirit there remains no more sacrifice for that sin.  Jesus is the only sacrifice for sin but not this “willful” sin.

Check out the meaning of the word “willful”.

Strong's Ref. # 1596
Romanized  hekousios
Pronounced hek-oo-see'-ose
adverb from the same as GSN1595; voluntarily:
KJV--wilfully, willingly.

Since Jesus is the only way to have salvation but this “willful sin” is not covered by the sacrifice of Jesus, then how is this person going to receive salvation?

The carnal people who break the law can be forgiven because they are in ignorance but those who have been given the Holy Spirit and break the covenant God makes with them blaspheme the Holy Spirit and bring upon themselves total and complete everlasting death.

The resurrections are made possible by Jesus but if one with the Holy Spirit blasphemes there will be no resurrection for this person because the sacrifice of Christ will not cover this sin.

This is not a hard thing to see, it is scripture, and I have not altered its meaning.  Why have such a warning recorded in Hebrews and in the gospels if there is universal salvation?

KJV Matthew 12:31-32
 31.  Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
 32.  And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

The author of Hebrews and the words of Jesus are identical about this subject; there is a sin that God will not forgive.  Universalism stands on the foundation of total acceptance without condition but the scripture plainly tells us that salvation has conditions and warns us about what happens if those conditions are not met. There would be no need for any warning at all if salvation was universal.

Satan and those fallen angels, who are enemies of God, have all seen God and Gods glory yet these beings turned evil and will suffer an everlasting fate as punishment.  If God spared not the angels who sinned, God will not spare any human either.  If angels can do this so can humans.

Salvation

Salvation is being in the kingdom of God as an immortal spirit being unable to sin or be tempted with evil.

Repentance, grace, faith and the sacrifice of Jesus is not salvation; these are the things that reconcile us to God and place us on the straight and narrow way that leads to the kingdom, to salvation.

Once we are in the kingdom we do not need repentance, grace, faith and the sacrifice of Christ because we will have achieved, we will have attained, we have salvation.  No one has ever experienced salvation, it is promised to us with conditions.  When converted and given the Holy Spirit we have entered into a covenant with God.  This covenant has conditions to meet in order to have the promised salvation.

When you are in the kingdom this is salvation and then you cannot lose salvation.  At this time you do not have salvation and it is possible that you can lose the offer of it if you commit the unpardonable sin.  God will withdraw His offer if you do not honor the conditions God requires for you to have salvation.  You must love and obey God and Christ when you have the Holy Spirit or you blaspheme that spirit.  If one third of the angels sinned against God what about human beings?  If Lucifer could convince angels to rebel humans would be far easier.
At this present time you are an heir of salvation, if you continue in the requirements God has in the new covenant, but if not God will disinherit you. You do not inherit the kingdom/salvation; when converted you are
only an heir.

Keep in mind as you read the scripture below that our inheritance is the kingdom which is what salvation is and that we do not have salvation at present but it is promised to us if we obey Gods requirements. Remember that you cannot lose salvation once you have salvation and you do not have it now; you have the opportunity, the hope, the promise and you will be judged by what you do with it.

KJV Matthew 5:5
 5.  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

KJV Matthew 19:29
 29.  And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

KJV Luke 10:25-28
 25.  And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
 26.  He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
 27.  And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
 28.  And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

KJV 1 Corinthians 6:9
 9.  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?

KJV Ephesians 1:11-14
 11.  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
 12.  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
 13.  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
 14.  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

KJV Ephesians 5:5
 5.  For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

KJV Colossians 3:24-25
 24.  Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
 25.  But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

KJV Revelation 21:7
 7.  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

The most important first step in the hope of salvation is for God to give you His Holy Spirit and begin to teach you the truth of spiritual knowledge bringing you out of the worlds lies and set you free.  This is what brings you out from under the old covenant law and into the new covenant grace so that you have access to repentance and forgiveness  of sins.  As you stand in faith and grace God begins to work with your human spirit to conform it into the image of Jesus who God made an exact image of Himself.  This image is that of love and righteousness that is incapable of sin and is the ultimate quality the saints must achieve to have salvation which is immortality.  You must be made incapable of sin first before you can become immortal.
In this human existence you will always sin because you have only a portion of the Holy Spirit but you can grow in the spirit and overcome sins as you mature bearing fruit unto God.  God can see your progress as all of us are an open book to Him and He will know if we grow with the gift of His spirit or not.  What God looks for is where our heart is; is it with Him, is our burning desire to obey Him and love Him beyond all else having faith in His son as you have faith in Him.  It is this desire and our growth in overcoming sin that pleases God and no matter how much growth is produced, as long as there is growth, when we die God will then seal our human spirit in total righteousness and we will be incapable of sin.  Then when the resurrection happens this perfected human spirit will be placed into a glorified spirit body thus we will then be immortal, have salvation, and then we can never lose it.

Jesus came into the world with a human spirit that God had already made perfect in righteousness and love so that Jesus was incapable of sin.  All Jesus needed was a glorified body to be immortal which he received when he ascended to heaven.  Jesus was Gods way of saying to us, “This man, my son, is what I will transform you to be like if you are willing and obedient so that you will be worthy of the salvation, the immortality, I have offered you through him.”

God loves and values the life of His son Jesus to the point where He will forgive all manner of sin that is common unto man but God will not dishonor the sacrifice of His son by forgiving those who blaspheme His, Gods, Holy Spirit.  Gods spirit is the spirit of grace and to blaspheme His spirit is to spit in His face and the face of His son, it is going to far and is the only sin God will not forgive.

Free will is the right and ability to chose between different and possible courses of action unimpeded. This includes moral responsibility.  The knowledge of good and evil requires a choice be made to do one or the other.  Does God make this choice for us?  If God does then we have no free will but if God does not then we have free will.  Who is responsible for the evil and sin that people do?  Satan is no doubt the tempter but can Satan force us to sin?  If Satan possesses us then the sin is against our will but if not then it is our sin because we chose to do what Satan tempts us with.  Now God allows Satan to tempt and also possess people, does this make God evil or the origin of sin?  No.  It is God making all things work together for good as God uses Satan as a tool to achieve His will.  The choice for us is serve God or serve Satan.  The carnal man serves Satan while the spiritual man serves God. When God calls and chooses a person they must decide who to serve.  James said; “Therefore, to him who knows to do good, but does it not, to him it is sin.” James 4:17

Moses commanded Israel to keep Gods law. “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death; blessing and cursing, therefore choose life that both you and thy seed may live”  Deuteronomy 30:19

See 1 Corinthians 9:7-9.    Ezra 7:13.  Revelation 22:17

Names can be blotted out of the book of life.  Jesus said to fear God, who can destroy both body and spirit in the lake of fire.  To whom much is given more will be required.  Universal salvation destroys the gospel as it eliminates the need for it, for Christ, faith, repentance, forgiveness, justification, righteousness as it is a type of once saved always saved.  Salvation is not conversion.  Conversion is the road that leads to salvation.  God is not willing that any should perish but that ALL come to REPENTANCE.  GOD SAVES ALL THAT ARE IN CHRIST, IF YOU WITH THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIY REJECT CHRIST AND BLASPHEME THE HOLY SPIRIT YOU ARE NO LONGER IN CHRIST.  THE UNRIGHTEOUS shall not inherit salvation which is impeccably and immortality in the kingdom of God.   God is not mocked, whatever you sow, that shall you also reap.  If humankind has free will, which they do, then God will not remove it but HE will let you have it.  Agape is the kind of love that is God, no one forces God to love us and God does not force us to love HIM. True undefiled love demands free will.  This kind of love is what the elect receives by Gods Holy Spirit you become HIS son even while yet mortal and Christ your elder brother.  This agape bond is truly the power of the new covenant as it is the greatest gift of all.  The unpardonable sin is spiritual adultery far greater and more sinful than the seventh commandment.  If an elect saint commits spiritual adultery the punishment is everlasting death, the second death, the lake of fire and a name blotted out of a book.  Anyone that believes in universal salvation is deceived.  Remember the definition of universal, no conditions, no limits , no exceptions.  This would mean that you do not even need the Holy Spirit for salvation.
