Fear Him Which is Able to Destroy Both Spirit and Body

Over time the meaning of the word soul has been confused and misinterpreted.  Many preachers say that a human being is composed of three parts; body, soul and spirit.  If we go back to when God created the first man we can clear up the confusion.

KJV Genesis 2:7
 7.  And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

 

Above, God formed the human body from the dust of the ground, this is the first component of a human being; secondly, God breathed into the body of dust the breath of life, these two components are what make a human being and this is what a soul is, a human being.  You do not have a soul you are a soul.
 

There is a scripture in Matthew that has been grossly butchered and gives a false meaning.
 

 KJV Matthew 10:28
 28.  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.



The word “soul” in the phrase, “kill the soul”  should be the word spirit as the Strong’s concordance says.

The parts in orange are the comments of the Strong’s authors who believe in the “immortal soul”  which is one of many false beliefs.  Man is mortal and his hope of immortality is in a resurrection of the dead.  If a soul can be killed then how can it be immortal? What is true in this article is that this word “psuche” means breath and life. The words in blue show the true meaning.  In Genesis 2:7 Gods breath of life entered the body made of dust and only then did Adam become a living soul.  What is also important is what Jesus is saying in Matthew 10:28. I have corrected the error to show the truth of this verse.
 

KJV Matthew 10:28
 28.  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the spirit: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both spirit and body in hell (Lake of Fire).

 

Our body can be killed in many ways but our human spirit, the breath of life from God, cannot be killed in any way except by God in the lake of fire. If both the spirit and the body are killed, destroyed in the lake of fire, then the soul, the combination of breath and body or spirit and body, because breath and spirit mean the same thing, is the destruction of the entire man. There is nothing else left, the “soul”, the union of breath and body is what we are and if the soul is destroyed then we are completely destroyed; this is called everlasting death or the second death which is what Jesus saves us from.
 

The sacrifice of Jesus will not serve as payment for the sin known as the unpardonable or unforgivable sin.
 

KJV Hebrews 10:26-27
 26.  For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
 27.  But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

 

After being given the Holy Spirit, if you sin willfully without repentance, the sacrifice of Jesus will not cover this sin. Then a fiery devouring of your soul, spirit and body, will take place.

This is why Jesus said the following;


KJV Matthew 12:31-32
 31.  Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
 32.  And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

 

Not now, in the millennium or second resurrection will this sin be forgiven.

The Apostle John knew this and spoke about it.

 

KJV 1 John 5:16
 16.  If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

 

In orange above; this sin is covered by Christ and is not unto death, that is everlasting death, but the sin in blue is speaking of the unpardonable sin that does lead to everlasting death and the Apostle says not to pray for this sin.  The truth being show here is that salvation is not universal and that the entirety of humanity will not be saved. If as Jesus said, there is a sin that will not be forgiven in this age or the next, and Jesus also said that the entire soul, body and spirit, can be killed or destroyed by God, then salvation is not universal.

Just what is salvation.  Many say that salvation is the forgiveness of your sins to prevent death because the wages of sin is death.  This is confusing Grace and faith with immortality in the kingdom of God.  We are to experience salvation when Jesus returns and changes us from being mortal to being immortal.  Salvation is being made immortal.  At this time we are under faith and grace and this is what forgives us of our sins.
 

KJV Ephesians 2:8
 8.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

 

When we are in the kingdom of God we will no longer be capable of sin and no longer need faith and grace. We must be changed in order to be in the kingdom and have immortality.
 

KJV 1 Corinthians 15:52-54
 52.  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
 53.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
 54.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.


Jesus compared our hope for immortality in the kingdom to a straight and narrow way; grace and faith is the way but the kingdom is where it leads to for without grace and faith we will not become immortal in the kingdom. The saints do not yet have salvation but hope for it when the kingdom comes.
 

KJV Romans 8:24-25
 24.  For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
 25.  But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

 

The message of the gospel is the message of the hope of salvation. Only a very few today understand this gospel.
 

KJV 1 Corinthians 15:1-2
 1.  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
 2.  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.


Faith and grace are the prerequisites but not the final result. Salvation comes when the kingdom comes but until then we stand in the message of the gospel, grace and faith, for the continual forgiveness of our sins to keep ourselves spiritually clean ready for salvation.

KJV Ephesians 2:8
 8.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

KJV 1 Peter 1:5
 5.  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

 

 To understand that salvation is not universal you must know the truth of a variety of spiritual subjects; that the soul is not immortal, that there is a condition to receiving salvation which is to obey the message of the gospel, that salvation is immortality not the forgiveness of sins which is grace and that when we are in the kingdom we will not need faith or grace because we will no longer be able to sin.

Since all men are mortal this means that we all die but this first death is temporary.  There are two resurrections of the dead; the first is of the saints to immortality in the kingdom and the second is all those who never heard the message of the true gospel.  There is a second death and those who experience this death will never live again, they go from death to death, but for those who hear and obey the gospel they go from life to life and both of these judgments are a sweet savor to God.

 

KJV 2 Corinthians 2:15-17
 15.  For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
 16.  To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
 17.  For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.


Some people think that Gods only goal and plan for humanity is to give salvation to all humanity.  In this they ignore the entire reason why God created humanity.
 

KJV Romans 8:28-29
28.  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
 29.  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

KJV 2 Corinthians 3:18
18.  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

 

God did not spare the angels that sinned. The angels are immortal spirit beings who have “seen” God.  Lucifer was able to deceive a third of the angels to become enemies of God. Angels do not die for their sins, they already have immortality and the sacrifice of Jesus is not intended for angels. If God will not spare these angels He will not spare any human either who with knowledge and having His spirit willingly refuses the message of the gospel.  Only converted people can commit the sin that has no forgiveness.  Unconverted people do not have Gods spirit or knowledge and therefore cannot commit this sin but in the age to come God will pour out His spirit on all flesh that has survived the tribulation and entered the millennium and then they will become responsible for what they at that time will have been given. The same is true of those who will be in the second resurrection.  To whom much is given much is required and the servant who knew is masters will but rejected it will be beaten with many stripes but the servant who did not know will be beaten with few.  Too many stripes will beat a man to death but a few will correct him.  God will beat with a few stripes those who love Him but many with those who hate Him.

What God desires from us is to love Him and by His power be changed to be like Him and His son. It is extremely important to God that this be done by our being in agreement with God as to what He must do to us in order to be made in the image of His son.  This change God will make in us involves a drastic change of our nature from being evil sons of the Devil to being sons of God.

 

KJV Acts 26:18
 18.  To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

 

This is a change of mind or spirit, the spirits of just men made perfect.  Perfection is to be like God and Christ, be you therefore perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.  If God can create one man, His son, perfect as He is perfect then God can make us perfect as well.  The saints must understand this and be in total agreement with what God desires of us.  We must want this change with all our heart of our own free will.  Those who reject the change will not receive it.  If angels were capable of being incorrigible why not humans?  God will not force salvation on anyone.

Even the law tells us in its shadow of what will happen to a son who refuses to obey.


KJV Deuteronomy 21:18-21
 18.  If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
 19.  Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
 20.  And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
 21.  And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.


Do you have an ear?  Do you fear Him who can destroy both body and spirit in fire?

The Tenth Commandment

In the Ten Commandments that God gave the tenth is the key to understanding the true definition of sin and how we human beings cannot by keeping the law fulfill the law.

KJV Hebrews 7:18-19
 18.  For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before, for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof
For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by which we draw nigh unto God.

 

The law was unable to make those who kept it perfect. Jesus said that we had to become perfect. It is the better hope and not the law that enables us to draw near to God.

KJV Matthew 5:48
 48.  Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

 

The law then was useless for this perfection and kept us away from and not near to God.

KJV Romans 3:21.  But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets.
 

We know the prophets spoke of the grace to come but how did the law serve as a witness to testify of the righteousness of God without the law being needed?

KJV Romans 7:7
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, thou shalt not covet.

 

Under the law two human witnesses were required to testify against someone to accuse them of breaking the law. The accused, if guilty, was usually killed.

KJV Hebrews 10:28
 28.  He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

 

How can a human witness testify that someone was coveting?  To covet is to think with the mind, to desire or lust and this without taking any action to do what is intended. If a person thinks in their mind about performing an evil act it is sin.

a. An overwhelming desire or craving: a lust for power.
b. Intense eagerness or enthusiasm: a lust for life.
3. Obsolete Pleasure; relish.
intr.v. lust·ed, lust·ing, lusts
To have an intense or obsessive desire, especially one that is sexual.                                             
  


KJV Proverbs 23:7
7.  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

 

How could the tenth commandment be enforced by mere human witnesses' testimony when no one can know the thoughts and intents of the heart of anyone else?  Under the law as long as you did not actually do what you were thinking and kept your mouth shut you would appear on the outside as a whitened sepulcher but inside you would be full of dead men's bones.

KJV Matthew 5:28
But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.


Jesus magnified the definition of sin to include the thoughts and intents of the human mind (spirit) and made the thought of sin equal to the act of sin and worthy of the same punishment. 

KJV Matthew 12:35
 35.  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth-good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth-evil things.


KJV Matthew 15:18-20
 18.  But those things, which proceed out of the mouth, come forth from the heart and they defile the man.
 19.  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies:
These are the things, which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defileth not a man.


The message Jesus gives us is that all manner of sin has its source in our human spirit. Our bodies are only the vehicles we use to commit the acts or speak the words we think about. All sin is premeditated. This is why a dead man is free from sin, he can no longer think, his thoughts perish.

KJV James 1:13-15
 13.  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
 14.  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
 15.  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

KJV Hebrews 4:12
12.  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

 

KJV 1 Peter 2:11
 11.  Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

KJV 2 Peter 1:4
 4.  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

KJV 1 John 2:16
 16.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.


How can the Ten Commandments address sin when Jesus magnified the definition of sin to include our thoughts?
Your body by itself cannot do anything that you do not control with your spirit, you must in your spirit concieve evil and that is the cause of sin the actual act is the effect of your thoughts or spirit.
What person can control all of his or her thoughts at all times in order not to sin? This is the question Solomon asked.

KJV Proverbs 20:9-11
 9.  Who can say, I have made my heart(human spirit)clean, I am pure from my sin?

 

The real problem with humanity is the human spirit where sin begins. The law could not deal with the cause of sin but could only deal with the effect of sin.  The tenth commandment is a witness to this truth because you will never read of anyone in scripture convicted of coveting by two witnesses under the law and all the other nine commandments can be broken by coveting as Jesus illustrated. James also shows this fact.

KJV James 2:10
 10.  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

 

The law dealt with the outer man, the flesh, while the Holy Spirit deals with the inner man, the human spirit. Your human spirit is what you really are and is what has the promise of salvation, not your fleshly body. None of your fleshly parts can think, not even your brain; thinking is a function of your human spirit. Your human spirit is evil and needs transformed, renewed and conformed to the image of Jesus.

KJV 1 Corinthians 15:50
 50.  Now this I say brethren that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.


The law was given as a schoolmaster to teach us this very thing.
 

KJV Galatians 3:24-25
 24.  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
 25.  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

 

The law is not sin but those who attempt to keep the law will become sinners.  In reality they are born into sin because of Adam.
 

KJV Romans 3:23
 23.  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

 

If we are honest with ourselves can we in truth say that we are without sin because we keep the law? All people have sinned and have fallen short of God's glory. Sin then is falling short of God's glory. God is incapable of sin and you must meet this glory to come out of sin and be perfect.  THE LAW, LIKE A MIRROR, CAN SHOW YOU YOUR RETCHED SPIRITUAL CONDITION BUT CANNOT CHANGE YOUR NATURE, THAT IS A JOB FOR GODS HOLY SPIRIT. Job and Solomon knew that sin begins in the heart of man and that no man was free of sin.

KJV Job 4:17-19
 17.  Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his maker?
 18.  Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
 19.  How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?


KJV Proverbs 20:9-11
 9.  Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
 10.  Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the lord.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.

 

Those who think that following the law will make them justified in God's eyes are self righteous and deceived. No law was ever given to address the thoughts and intents of the human spirit. The law itself testified to this truth as well as the prophets.
This is why Paul said that he would not have known sin except the law had said thou shalt not covet. Paul recognized that all sin begins as a thought of coveting or lust in our human spirit. The law was powerless to address this fatal flaw in our natures. It is only by the Holy Spirit of God that our minds can be renewed into sound minds so that the inner man can also be renewed and transformed into the likeness of Christ. Those who are intent on keeping the law deny the working power of the Holy Spirit of God as well as the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The law could only give us the knowledge of what good and evil is but not the power needed to always do the good and reject the evil.

KJV James 4:17
 17.  Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

 

The law cannot change our natures but the Holy Spirit is the divine nature of God himself that can transform our minds to be like the mind of Christ.
 

KJV 2 Peter 1:4
 4.  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

 

Anyone who has ever come to grace has first come to an understanding of the law because the law is what condemns all as sinners and in need of being saved.  Once under grace the law has no hold a person. The correct way to preach the gospel is to inform sinners of their death sentence resulting from the laws righteous condemnation. To tell sinners they need to have sincere Godly sorrow for failing to keep the law. Sinners then are informed that Jesus brought a new covenant into effect by His sacrifice and resurrection to enable them to escape the old covenant. The law is a vital tool needed to bring sinners to repentance. Without the law there would be no sin to repent of and no way for God to judge the world. It is not just Israel but all people except those who have come to grace.
 

KJV Romans 3:19
 19.  Now we know that what things soever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and the entire world may become guilty before God.


There are many views today about the law and differences in doctrine among the churches, because of misunderstanding how the law functions.
 

KJV Galatians 3:22
 22.  But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

 

It makes no difference if you are Jew or Gentile; God's law condemns all except those who come to grace. The law is not for the righteous, those who have faith in the gospel and are in the new covenant.

KJV 1 Timothy 1:9
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

 

All uncoverted people are under and condemned by the law to death. It is only the righteous, the born again and converted person that is not under the law.

The commandments the saints keep are the two Jesus gave of love to God and neighbor.  Jesus kept his Fathers commandments, the ten commandments, because no human being could other than the messiah.  Jesus did what no other man could and kept the law as God gave it to Moses. Jesus did this with love and not by the works of the law because love fulfills and works do not fulfill. Then Jesus gave two new commandments that are kept in the saints by the love of God that is given to us by the indwelling of Gods Holy Spirit that has the ability to transform the saints into the image of Jesus.

KJV Romans 5:5
 5.  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
 


This is why love is the fulfillment of the law.  If Gods love is what is needed to fulfill the law then the law alone was not fulfilling. The ten commandments are not the law of love. Jesus came to fulfill the law, to give the Holy Spirit of his Father to us that sheds abroad in our human spirit the love of God. Gods love does no sin and will fulfill any law. The nature of the saints is being changed, transformed, to be conformed to the image of Christ who was in this same way the image of God. The ten commandments are only a shadow but the two commandments of Jesus are the light. The ten commandments could not give the love of God to people otherwise the law would have given life and righteousness.  The Holy Spirit is the power from God that can transform and change human nature from sin to love, the law cannot do this.

The saints fulfill the intent of the law and thereby establish the law the way God wills.  I do not not define sin as the transgression of the law but rather whatever is not of the love of God. God is love and Jesus was the image of God and we are to become the image of Jesus. The image is love that cannot sin, immortal spirit beings, made after Gods image and according to His likeness just as God said in the very beginning.

KJV Romans 8:29
 29.  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

KJV Romans 12:2
 2.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The scripture will set you free from lies. No lie is of the truth.

 15.  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
 16.  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
 17.  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The scripture is the inspired words of God and Jesus, the son of God, was sent to speak the truth.

KJV John 14:6
 6.  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

KJV Romans 15:8
 8.  Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

 39.  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

 21.  If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

What about the truth that is in prophecy?

KJV Revelation 19:10
 10.  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

KJV 2 Peter 1:20-21
20.  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
 21.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Prophecy therefore is the truth of God by the testimony of His son, the message of the gospel. This message is contained throughout all of scripture but not all in one place.  The truth is scattered here and there and like a spiritual gold mine one must search for the nuggets being led by the spirit of truth that sets one free from all lies.  The gospel is truth, the gospel is prophecy, for it is the message of the entire will of God for man.  Prophecy is of no private interpretation, no outside source can be used to understand the message but only the scripture can be used to gain the understanding of prophecy.   

Again;

KJV 2 Peter 1:20-21
20.  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
 21.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Using any writings of men to interpret prophecy is against scripture. If any other writings than scripture is used to try to understand prophecy it will be useless.

KJV 2 Timothy 2:15-16
15.  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

All doctrine, all truth and all prophecy is of the spirit and contained in scripture and no where else.  You cannot build a doctrine, truth or prophecy on any source outside of scripture.  To depart from the scripture on these matters is to depart from the truth of them.  No matter how good any outside source may seem to be, if it is not of the scripture it is useless and worthless.

 31.  He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
 32.  And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

The one thing about the truth is that it never changes, from beginning to end it remains the same. The truth is like God for God is truth and the scripture is Gods testimony to us.  Prophecy is Gods testimony in advance and can only be known by the spirit of God as revealed in scripture. Truth with truth, scripture with scripture, spirit to spirit; no other ideas or writings from any other source are to be used because Gods words only are the truth.

The End of the Kingdom of Judah

KJV Ezekiel 21:21-27
 21.  For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver.
 22.  At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort.


The king of Babylon required Zedekiah, the one Nebuchadnezzar placed on the throne of Judah to replace Jehoiachin, to swear an oath to God that he would be loyal.  Here are the verses;
 

KJV 2 Kings 24:15-17
 15.  And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
 16.  And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all that were strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
 17.  And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

KJV 2 Chronicles 36:11-13
 11.  Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
 12.  And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the Lord.
 13.  And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the Lord God of Israel.

 

The reason Zedekiah betrayed Nebuchadnezzar was because a false prophet, Hanniniah, gave this false prophecy.
 

KJV Jeremiah 28:1-4
 1.  And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of the Lord, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
 2.  Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
 3.  Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the Lord's house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:
 4.  And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the Lord: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.


This false divination by Hananiah caused those who believed it to not fear the words Jeremiah spoke and that is why the verse below states, “it shall be to them as a false divination in their sight, to them who have sworn oaths; “  Zedekiah swore an oath by God but broke the oath.

23.  And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.
 

God called this sin to remembrance and Babylon took Zedekiah and punished him, killed all his sons and put out his eyes.  God removed Zedekiah from the throne of Judah.

 24.  Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
 25.  And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,
 26.  Thus saith the Lord God; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.
 

The three times the word “overturn” is used represents the three waves of destruction listed in Jeremiah 52: 

Jeremiah 52:28-30
 28.  This is the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty:
 29.  In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons:
 30.  In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five.
 

The word “overturn” is shown in Strong’s below; It does not indicate transporting but to be laid waste or ruined.

27.  I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.
 

The “He” whose right it is, mentioned above, is Jesus Christ. The reign of Zedekiah was as a stooge for the king of Babylon and the rightful king of Judah, Jehoaichin, was yet alive in Babylon and was acknowledged as such by the King of Babylon.
 

KJV Jeremiah 52:31-34
 31.  And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison.
 32.  And spake kindly unto him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
 33.  And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.
 34.  And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

 

The prophet Ezekiel never mentions Zedekiah but confirms that Jehoiachin or Jeconiah was the rightful king of Judah.
 

KJV Ezekiel 1:2
 2.  In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

 

God ended the kingdom of Judah and the reign of a king but there were rightful heirs of Jehoiachin or Jeconiah. See Article below.

Jeconiah (Hebrew: meaning "God will fortify (his people)"; Greek:  Latin: Joachin), also known as Coniah and as Jehoiachin (Hebrew: Latin: Joachin), was a king of Judah who was dethroned by the King of Babylon in the 6th century BCE and was taken into captivity. He was the son and successor of King Jehoiakim. Most of what is known about Jeconiah is found in the Hebrew Bible. Records of Jeconiah's existence have been found in Iraq, such as the Jehoiachin's Rations Tablets. These tablets were excavated near the Ishtar Gate in Babylon and have been dated to c. 592 BCE. Written in cuneiform, they mention Jeconiah ("Ia-'-ú-kinu") and his five sons as recipients of food rations in Babylon.[2] Comparing Babylonian records with date references found in Hebrew biblical texts, the length of Jeconiah's captivity can accurately be determined.
After Jeconiah was deposed as king, Jeconiah's uncle, Zedekiah,[2Ki.24:17] was appointed by Nebuchadnezzar to rule Judah. Zedekiah was the son of Josias.[7] However, while in captivity, the deported Jews still regarded Jeconiah as their legitimate king. Jeconiah would later be regarded as the first of the exilarchs. In the Book of Ezekiel, the author refers to Jeconiah as king and dates certain events by the number of years he was in exile. The author identifies himself as Ezekiel, a contemporary of Jeconiah, and he never mentions Zedekiah by name.
Jeremiah (22:28-30) cursed Jeconiah that none of his descendants would ever sit on the throne of Israel:
Thus says the LORD: 'Write this man down as childless, A man who shall not prosper in his days; For none of his descendants shall prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling anymore in Judah.'"

Jeconiah was the son of Jehoiakim with Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. He had seven children: Shealtiel, Malkiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama and Nedabiah. (1 Chronicles 3:17-18). Jeconiah is also mentioned in the first book of Chronicles as the father of Pedaiah, who in turn is the father of Zerubbabel. A list of his descendants is given in 1 Chronicles 3:17-24.
In listing the genealogy of Jesus Christ, Matthew 1:11 records Jeconiah as an ancestor of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Because of the curse upon Jeconiah, recorded in Jeremiah, some Biblical scholars conclude Joseph could not be the biological father of Jesus, providing further support for the Virgin birth of Jesus.

Therefore; this information shows that Zedekiah was never the rightful king of Judah and that the kings of Judah ended with Jehoiachin as all of his sons, though qualified to reign, never did. Ezekiel confirms Jehoiachin as king of Judah but never acknowledges Zedekiah as the king of Judah. The kings and kingdom of Judah ceased to be until, as Ezekiel states, “until he who comes whose right it is; and I will give it him.” From Jehoiachin and his sons after him came Joseph the husband of Mary the mother of Jesus. Mary’s genealogy also has listed;


Shealtiel (Hebrew: or Greek-derived variant Salathiel (Greek:  Salathiel) was the son of Jeconiah, king of Judah. (1 Chronicles 3:17-18) The Gospels Matthew 1:12 also list Shealtiel as the son of Jeconiah, while Luke 3:27-28 lists him as the son of an otherwise unknown man named Neri. Jeconiah, Shealtiel as well as the most of the royal house and elite of Judah were exiled to Babylon by order of Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon after the first siege of Jerusalem in 597 BC. During the Babylonian captivity, Shealtiel was regarded as the second Exilarch (or king-in-exile), following his father.[1]
In Hebrew, the name Shealtiel means, Sh?’altî ’El, "I asked El (for this child)". The name acknowledges that the son is an answer to the parents' prayer to God (El) to help them conceive and birth a child. Many Hebrew names similarly express the importance of, difficulty of, and thankfulness for a successful pregnancy.
Shealtiel is a significant but problematic member in the genealogies of the House of David and of the genealogy of Jesus. There is conflicting text in the Hebrew Bible as to whether Zerubbabel is the son of Shealtiel or of Shealtiel's brother Pedaiah. However, though both genealogies of Jesus list Zerubbabel as the son of Shealtiel, they differ as to Shealtiel's paternity with Matthew agreeing with 1 Chronicles that Jeconiah was Shealtiel's father, while Luke lists Shealtiel's father as an unknown man named Neri.

When Gabriel visits Mary he informs her of the following;

No 0ne else can lay claim to be king of Israel or Judah except Jesus Christ.

Now all the events described in this article are to show that God removed the king and kingdom from earthly men and kept it in store for His son Jesus, who God ordained to be a king and priest forever according to the order of Melchisedek. Jesus now is at the right hand of God and because he lives forever will remain forever both high priest and king.  God ended the shadow rule of earthly men in both the kingdom of Israel and the kingdom of Judah because both these kingdoms were evil and He removed them from His sight. It was never Gods intent to give a shadow kingdom to His son. God preserved the fleshly line of men who were qualified to be king but never served in that office so that David never lacked a man to sit on his throne but since Jehoiachin no man did until Jesus. This throne is now in heaven at the right hand of God and soon it will be placed on the Earth as the kingdom of God.  Spiritual Israel, which was always the intent of God and existed from the foundation of the world is the church, the elect saints, who will live and reign with Jesus in the millennium.
