KJV John 17:17
17.  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The scripture is truth.

KJV John 8:32
32.  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The scripture will set you free from lies. No lie is of the truth.

KJV 2 Timothy 3:15-17
 15.  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
 16.  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
 17.  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The scripture is the inspired words of God and Jesus, the son of God, was sent to speak the truth.

KJV John 14:6
 6.  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

KJV Romans 15:8
 8.  Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

KJV John 5:39
 39.  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

KJV Ephesians 4:21
 21.  If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

What about the truth that is in prophecy?

KJV Revelation 19:10
 10.  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

KJV 2 Peter 1:20-21
20.  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
 21.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Prophecy therefore is the truth of God by the testimony of His son, the message of the gospel. This message is contained throughout all of scripture but not all in one place.  The truth is scattered here and there and like a spiritual gold mine one must search for the nuggets being led by the spirit of truth that sets one free from all lies.  The gospel is truth, the gospel is prophecy, for it is the message of the entire will of God for man.  Prophecy is of no private interpretation, no outside source can be used to understand the message but only the scripture can be used to gain the understanding of prophecy.

KJV 2 Peter 1:20-21

Using any writings of men to interpret prophecy is against scripture. If any other writings than scripture is used to try to understand prophecy it will be useless.

KJV 2 Timothy 2:15-16
15.  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
 16.  But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

KJV 2 Timothy 4:4
4.  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

KJV Titus 1:14
14.  Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

KJV Ephesians 5:9-11
 9.  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) (Prophecy comes by the Spirit)
 10.  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
 11.  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

All doctrine, all truth and all prophecy is of the spirit and contained in scripture and no where else.  You cannot build a doctrine, truth or prophecy on any source outside of scripture.  To depart from the scripture on these matters is to depart from the truth of them.  No matter how good any outside source may seem to be, if it is not of the scripture it is useless and worthless.

KJV John 3:31-33
 31.  He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
 32.  And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
 33.  He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

KJV 2 Corinthians 1:12-13
 12.  For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
 13.  For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;

KJV Psalms 119:88-89
 88.  Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.
 89.  For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

The one thing about the truth is that it never changes, from beginning to end it remains the same. The truth is like God for God is truth and the scripture is Gods testimony to us.  Prophecy is Gods testimony in advance and can only be known by the spirit of God as revealed in scripture. Truth with truth, scripture with scripture, spirit to spirit; no other ideas or writings from any other source are to be used because Gods words only are the truth.
